Yelapa Beach, Puerto Vallarta: Yelapa is definitely the most favored
Puerto Vallarta beach. Tourists and locals alike venture to this secluded beach

There is no way to get to Yelapa except by boat. We recommend you take a water
taxi to Yelapa from Los Muertos beach in Puerto Vallarta, for a 45
min ride, where you pass by every secluded Puerto Vallarta beach on the southern
side of the bay.
Many tourists who plan a day trip to Yelapa end up making it an overnight
trip because they can’t tear themselves away from Yelapa beach.
If this happens to you, look for a room at Hotel Lagunita.
A very nice little bungalow hotel on Yelapa beach, with a small lagoon like pool
overlooking the ocean. The only way to become a member of its community is if
the town’s citizens are willing to accept you as
a part of the town. This may sound difficult but in actuality, about half of the community was born

Majahuitas beach: about 40 minutes south from Puerto Vallarta
by boat.
A small, very pretty jungle-fringed cove that feels as remote from civilization as any Island.

Las Caletas beach: The famous film maker John Huston, who used to live
along this beach considered Las Caletas to be one of the
most beautiful places in

Quimixto and Yelapa.

Quimixto beach: about 35 minutes south from Puerto Vallarta
by boat. (The only way to get there!)
This is where you will find the only surf break on the southern shores of the Bay.
Quimixto is a secluded remote beach with one of the best fishing villages in Bandera's Bay, there are lots
of palapa restaurants where you can hide from the sun and enjoy cold refreshments with great seafood
The bonus here is that along with a nice beach you have an interesting town to explore and a beautifull waterfall to enjoy near
the beach: it's a 30 minutes walk.
Las Animas, Puerto Vallarta beach: This beach is very popular with
Mexican families who will either take their own boat or a water taxi from
Los Muertos or Mismaloya/Boca de Tomatlan. Las Animas is actually made up of
two different beaches, each about a mile long,
separated by rocks which can provide some privacy if you want.
Thanks to the almost transparent waters Las Animas is great for snorkeling and kayaking.
Numerous palapa restaurants can be found on one of
the two beaches. The other has maintained its unspoiled natural beautyand appears
as if no man has ever set foot on it.
Playa del Amor: 25 minutes south of Puerto Vallarta by
boat.
Not a lot of people know about this beautiful yet small beach. Most people you
ask about it, won't know where it is, the reason being it is not a tourist
place. Located between Las Animas and Boca de Tomatlan, this beach is completely
free of palapa
shades or people, it will just be you, your lovedone, a waterfall (raining season
only) coming from the mountain right into the middle of the beach, and a spectacular
view!

Boca de Tomatlan is an impressive hidden beach, where the mouth of the
Tomatlan River meets the ocean.
The jungle is so close to the shore you can literally smell it.
It is just minutes south of Mismaloya. Movie director
John Huston used to live here before discovering las Caletas.
While in Boca de Tomatlan you'll find mainly Mexican families and some Palapa covered restaurants along the beach with fresh sea
food and traditional Mexican dishes.
It is also a great departure point for tourists that want
to see the wilder and more secluded beaches like Quimixto, Las Animas or Yelapa.
Mismaloya, Puerto Vallarta beach: A very nice sandy beach surrounded
by jungle where John Huston’s movie, “Night of the Iguana” was filmed. Approximately
15 min south of Puerto Vallarta by car, there are a few restaurants here and
a great hotel called La Jolla de Mismaloya,
a part of the Barcelo Hotels and Resorts chain.
